Wind Tunnel

The Wind Tunnel is a simulator where students can work on real projects with leading companies in the industry. Used to better understand the effects of wind on objects; measuring the forces on them, the wind speed and visualising the airstream.

These objects can include mock-ups of planes, cars, aeroplane wings, buildings, bridges, anything subject to the force of the wind; this can also test the efficacy of wind turbines that can be manufactured in our FAB LAB, a space dedicated to 3D printing.

The technical characteristics are as follows:

It has two test chambers, one high speed 40 m/s, the other low speed 10 m/s, square sections of 90 cm edge and one high and 180 cm respectively, dynamometers for measuring forces, multiple Pitot tube Scanivalve hot wire anemometers, smoke visualisation equipment for airstreams, computers, one for managing the 36 kW wind tunnel motor and another for acquiring data from the dynamometers, photo and video cameras for recording the tests.
